Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi has said he will not be intimidated for calling for accountability in the use of public funds and resources at the Kiambu government.

Addressing journalists at Kiambu Town on Tuesday, the senator said some people are intimidating him over his persistent calls for accountability.

Wamatangi said that as a senator, he has a responsibility to ensure the county government exercises accountability in its use of funds and resources.

The senator, who is a also amember of the Senate Finance and Public Accounts Committee, asked Governor William Kabogo to explian how the county has been using funds allocated to it by the National Treasury.

“Kiambu is one of the counties that gets huge funding from the national government. The governor must explain how the money has been used,” said Wamatangi.

Senator Wamatangi said some counties cannot account fully for the funds allocated to them by the national government.

The Kiambu senator called on the National Treasury to put in place mechanisms that will ensure prudent utilization of government funds at both the national and county levels.
