Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi has urged counties in Mt Kenya region to form an economic bloc in order to boost investments and trade.

Speaking to journalists after attending a church service at Furaha Worship Centre in Kiambu town on Sunday, the senator said that it is time the region formed a bloc.

Wamatangi observed other regions across the country have formed economic development blocs and are harnessing from investments.

“We have seen other counties partner together through economic blocs and I think it’s time for Mt Kenya region to start thinking in that direction,” said Wamatangi.

He said that counties should not work lonely but partner with others for development.

He said that forming a bloc will propel development, address unemployment and improve the living standards of the people.

The Kiambu senate lawmaker further said that Mt Kenya is allocated over 50 billion every financial year noting that the money can help boost development.

“It is time for Mt Kenya counties to start realigning and seeking ways of how they can work together for proposes of development,” he added.

Wamatangi blamed political wrangles among a section of leaders in the region saying that it has hindered development.

He warned that the region will stagnate in terms of development if leaders do not stop selfish politics.
