Wamatangi said that merging of parties under Jubilee will encourage democracy contrary to claims by Odinga that the merging will kill democracy.

On Wednesday Wamatangi stated that the country will be united through Jubilee party.

He said that the JP under the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto will bring Kenyans together.

“The merging of affiliate parties under the Jubilee Alliance to form Jubilee party is the best way forward in encouraging unity,” said the Kiambu senate lawmaker.

Wamatangi asked opposition leaders to follow the same route and bring their affiliate parties together.

On Tuesday Cord leader Raila Odinga criticized the merging of Jubilee parties saying that it was a plot by Uhuru to kill democracy.

Raila said that encouraging single parties will take the country back to days of dictatorship experienced during the Kanu regime.

The launch of the new Jubilee party is set for next month.

President Uhuru will be using the new party to seek re-election for a second term in next year’s election.
