Speaking to the media at Lari town, county senator Kimani Wamatangi said that every cent must be accounted for by the county government.

He said that time when leaders embezzled and misused public resources is over adding that the constitution agitates for accountability.

“I will continue to call for transparency and accountability in the use of county or public resources among Kiambu leaders,” he said.

The senator intimated that the public has the power to decide on how they want their money to be used.

Wamatangi cautioned the county government against focusing on projects that will have no impact on the lives of the people.

He added that devolution is for the people and not for leaders to fill their stomachs and accomplish their petty interests.

Wamatangi asked Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) to be active and play their oversight roles well.

He said that MCAs are the eyes of the people in the counties apart from being the lawmakers.

Wamatangi stated that the senate will continue to agitate for the existence of devolution. He added that the senate will not allow people with selfish interests to continue manipulating Kenyans.

He said that they (senate) will continue to speak and stand for the rights and welfare of Kenyans who voted for the constitution that established devolution.
