Speaking on Sunday in Embu, Wamatangi said leaders should desist from misusing public funds.

“I want to caution those leaders including governors who are using tax payers’ money to pay their lawyers and settle legal fees. Others are using as much as Sh50 million that is meant for development for their personal needs to pay their lawyers,” said Wamatangi.

He also called for accountability in utilising public funds and initiating development projects, which he claimed most leaders are using to embezzle money.

“Why would you rush to the courts to stop the public from asking you to explain how you have spent the money that has been allocated to development projects?” he asked.

He added: “All we need is transparency and accountability to the last penny. You should also refrain from overtaxing business people who are trying to make ends meet and then use the same money to pay your lawyers.”

He also echoed the jubilee leaders’ call for unity amongst the members and reaffirmed that the president is set to run for his second term on Jubilee Alliance Party ticket in 2017.
