Wamwangi led the estate residents in unblocking drainage systems and removing silt deposited on trenches and waterways.

He said that such exercises should be conducted regularly in the estate to ensure that flooding is regulated.

"I always tell residents that they have a responsibility of ensuring that their surroundings are clean and habitable. Cleaning the drainage system in Ofafa today will go forward in helping residents stay free from floods," said Wamwangi.

The MCA also ensured that the cleared trenches were cemented for easy flow of flood waters and less siltation.

"We have noted that siltation is as a result of having trenches and that is why we are cementing them to ensure that water flows easily and flooding is minimal," he added.

Cleared silt deposits from the trenches and other garbage was taken for dumping at Kamenu dumpsite.

Thika Water and Sewerage Company (Thiwasco) crew also participated in unblocking sewer lines around the estate and fixing the faulty ones.
