Public Accounts Committee chair Opiyo Wandayi has said that the Jubilee government should prepare for tough timesWandayi speaking in Ugenya on Thursday said it will not be business as usual for corrupt cartels in government.

Wandayi said the committee will restore sanity in the use of public funds.

“With the government’s attitude towards watchdog institutions, it is a must that we remain vigilant, otherwise devolution and other independent institutions will be killed,” Wandayi said.

Wandayi further stated he will fast-track the clearance of all finance audit reports from next month.

“Now that l’m at the helm of a watchdog committee, I must correct the previous mess for Kenyans to enjoy government resources,” Wandayi said.

“I will ensure national revenue is shared to the counties with the most recent audited accounts as approved by the National Assembly.”

He said he will ensure the counties get enough money to boost devolution. Wandayi warned the government against delaying county funds.

“If they think that things will remain the same during my tenure, then they are in for a rude shock,” Wandayi said.
