Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga has reiterated that ODM Party will be rallying behind its candidates ahead of the August polls.
Speaking in Kisii County earlier in the week, the lawmaker argued that NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga will need a majority in the legislature to effectively run the country should he win the presidency.
She further told off independent candidates on their continued Opposition to the six-piece voting pattern.
“We are not against independent candidates but since our main aim is the presidency, Raila requires unwavering numerical strength in both houses,” she stated.
“Strength in the Senate, National and County Assemblies will guard Raila’s presidency against all manner of threats including impeachment. We also need a big number of Governors whom he can easily work with in reference to resource allocations and distribution," she added.
Independent candidates drawn from perceived NASA strongholds have since declared their support for Raila Odinga's presidential bid.
