Homa Bay Women Representative Gladys Wanga has said that it is now evident that the National Super Alliance (NASA) was ‘right’ all along that IEBC was unfit to conduct elections.
The vocal legislator speaking on Tuesday on Citizen TV’s Power Breakfast show said that the commission was very badly divided even before the elections and therefore they could not be trusted to conduct a credible election.
“As NASA we said from the beginning that IEBC, as was constituted, was unable to conduct the repeat elections. we also said that the commission was irreparably divided and could not conduct the election,” Wanga said.
She further said that commissioners resigning just because the commission’s CEO was sent home is an indication that they were not committed to their oath to serve Kenyans.
“For these commissioners to resign just because Chiloba (CEO) was sent home is a clear indication that they did not have fidelity to the oath that they made to Kenyans to serve them,” she said.
There has been increased pressure from Kenyans and leaders demanding the disbandment of the electoral body saying that it has failed to deliver on its constitutional mandate of ensuring free, fair and credible elections.
