Homabay Women Representative Glady's Wanga now says that opposition leader Raila Odinga is not interested in any government position.
Speaking on Radio Citizen Tuesday, Wanga defended the National Super Alliance (NASA) chief over allegations of pushing for a constitutional amendment to have himself housed in the government.
Speaking in Kakamega county on Saturday, Deputy President William Ruto alleged that Odinga's quarters is keen on subjecting the nation to a referendum to allocate him and others powerful leadership positions, allegations Wanga has poked holes into.
''Saying that Raila is after a state job is actually being disrespectful. He has had his share of leadership and has served the nation for so long making it wrong to claim that his push for national unity is a plot to allocate himself a job in the government,'' she said.
''Whatever he is doing is for the sake of the entire nation and not himself as Raila Odinga and I urge all the others, led by the Deputy President, to join him,'' added Wanga.
The referendum debate has been fueled by a section of Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders led by Alego Usonga lawmaker Samuel Atandi who have since hit back at Ruto over his opposition, accusing him of sabotaging the recent truce between Odinga and President Kenyatta where the topic is alleged to be emanating from.
