Veteran striker Allan Wanga who has signed with Kenyan Premier League side Kakamega Homeboyz has vowed to help his new team fight for the title.
Wanga, who has a lot of experience in Kenyan football, revealed to the press in Kakamega that he is ready to fight for his position in the team’s first 11 and also help them bid for trophies.
“It feels great to join Kakamega Homeboyz a side that put up a good fight last season that saw them finish in a better position. I am well aware of the stiff competition in this great team but I will work hard to earn my position in the team and help them win matches,” Wanga said.
He said he did not hesitate to join Mike Mururi’s side after they approached him for his signature.
“It was an easy decision for me even though I had a couple of other offers from local clubs playing in the Premier League. I know the fans have high expectations but this will only be realized through teamwork which can steer the team to glory,” added Wanga.
He also revealed that Kakamega is home and he will not struggle to adapt as most of the players at Homeboyz are not new to him. Homeboyz chairman Cleophas “Toto” Shimanyula praised Wanga for choosing his team over other top sides that were after his signature.
“I am proud to have completed the signing of Allan Wanga and other top stars who have come in to bolster our team so that we can reach our target of fighting for the title.
Wanga’s capture is a big relief for Homeboyz who have been relying on Jeremiah Wanjala and Wycliffe Ochomo whose contract has not been renewed, other new faces include former Tusker winger Noah Wafula, defender Alex Anekeya from Thika United, and Kennedy Rono from Chemelil Sugar.
