Communications Authority of Kenya(CA) Director General Francis Wangusi was on Friday suspended the regulator's board on accounts of alledged malpractice over staff promotions with 18months still on his contract and a busy calendar of events.Mr Wangusi, on Saturday speaking to the standard's weekend business said that his three months compulsory leave was as a result of 'hidden powers' in the regulator to get rid of him. He explains that the suspension came as a shocker to him as he received news of the suspension when he called for a board meeting.“I had convened a board meeting but to my surprise I was told I had been sent on compulsory leave for an audit to be conducted on some of the employment decisions I have made,” Mr Wangusi explained.“To be sincere I do not think the reasons given are genuine and I believe it has something to do with my hardline stance on several crucial matters the Authority has handled in the recent past,” he added.Communication Authority of Kenya sent a statement on Friday to that Mr Wangusi had been sent on compulsory leave to allow for an independent audit of the human resource function at the Authority. The Board session chair, Christopher Huka said the audit will be carried out following a decision of the Board of Directors to examine the organisation structure, promotions and training.
