Bernard Wanjala will be Chess Kenya chairman for the next four years.
He was elected unopposed during the federation’s annual general meeting held on Sunday at the Nyayo National Stadium.
Former chairman Githinji Hinga decided not to challenge for another term in office.
Wanjala will work together with Andrew Owili who was also elected unopposed to the position of vice chairman, administrative.
John Mukabi was not challenged to the post of secretary general and takes over from Joseph Atwoli with Rodah Olisah taking the position of vice secretary general, also unopposed.
Duke Michieka has been elected vice chair, technical after securing 22 votes against his competitor Peter Ganga who collected 20 votes.
Gilbert Wandera is the new treasurer after being supported by 30 voters, against 12 voters who opted to put their faith in Bob Odhiambo.
Terence Chazima was elected vice treasurer having managed 30 votes to Michael Asati’s 13 votes.
The newly elected officials take charge of Chess Kenya immediately and will serve for a term of four years.
