Speaking in an interview with Inooro TV on Thursday, Kibe said that the court erred in nullifying her election.

She claimed that allegations of irregularities and illegalities raised by the petitioner were not proved,  adding that the nullification is a blow to Gatundu North people.

“I have instructed my lawyers to lodge an appeal immediately because the ruling is against the wish Gatundu North people made on August 8, 2017,” she said.

The former media personality asked her supporters to remain calm assuring them of a favorable ruling in the court of appeal.

Kiambu High court Judge Joel Ngugi nullified Kibe’s election citing massive irregularities in the election process.

Ngugi ruled that the petitioner, former MP Clement Waibara, had provided sufficient evidence to have the election nullified.

The court slapped Kibe with Sh3 Million as costs for the petition.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared Kibe the winner of the parliamentary seat in last year’s general election.

Kibe, according to the IEBC, garnered 39,448 votes against Waibara who managed 9,296 votes.

Waibara challenged Kibe’s election citing massive illegalities.

He had also accused Kibe of allegedly using witchcraft to scare voters into voting for her.
