Jubilee Party ticket winner for the Nairobi governor’s seat Mike Sonko rival in last month's primaries now wants to be the Nairobi Senator's running mate in the forthcoming August polls.

Former Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru says she has the necessary resources and experience to help Sonko oust the incumbent Governor Evans Kidero of ODM.

“If it is about money, we already have enough for a serious campaign. He should also consider gender, church, grassroots networking and mobilisation ability. I think I will add value to his government, both technically and politically,” stated Wanjiru as quoted by SDE.

Wanjiru who emerged a distant third behind Sonko and Peter Kenneth in the hotly contested Jubilee nominations said she should be considered deputy governor as she was initially part of Team Nairobi that had campaigned against Sonko's fiercest rival, Kenneth.

“Team Nairobi should stick together in order to deliver Nairobi. I believe Sonko’s victory can largely be attributed to the teamwork we exhibited during our familiarisation campaigns with voters,” the former Assistant Minister added.

Team Nairobi, a caucus of six aspirants for Jubilee tickets, brought together Sonko, Wanjiru, MPs Johnson Sakaja (nominated), Dennis Waweru (Dagoretti South), Women Rep aspirants Karen Nyamu and Wangui Ng’ang’a.

Waweru, who narrowly lost the chance to defend his seat to former comic John Kiarie (KJ), is also seeking to be Nairobi Senator's deputy in his bid for the lucrative city’s chief executive position.
