The ailing national carrier has now introduced shuttle buses that will ferry passengers from the central business district to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at a fee of Sh1,000.

According to a newspaper advert, the KQ shuttle buses will depart from the CBD at specific times namely; 6am, 11am and 5pm.

They will depart from JKIA to the city centre at 9am, 2pm and 9pm.

According to the nation.co.ke, KQ opines that the buses are meant to offer comfort and reliability in what could add to the sales of a carrier that posted a loss of Sh26.2 billion in the year to March.

The move is expected to give taxis a run for their money as some charge as high as over Sh3,000.

Passengers will be allowed two pieces of luggage and a carry-on bag.

“Spacious KQ shuttle buses now leave the Sirios Car Park on Loita Street CBD, whisking you away in comfort and style. Why go through the hassle of finding your own way to JKIA?” asked the firm in the advert.

It costs Sh100 in a public service vehicle to get to JKIA while fare estimates for Uber Taxi are between Sh870 to Sh1093.
