John Wamagata who is seeking the seat on the Safina party ticket on Thursday requested the group to overlook him on the voting day as he is not interested in their votes.

Speaking during a debate that brought together seven candidates who are all gunning for the seat at Daystar University, the civil society activist said homosexuals were a disgrace to the African culture and promised to have them banished should he be elected.

"Kindly if you are a homosexual don't vote for me.I don't need your votes. You can keep them. But rest assured that I will deal with you if I will be elected. This is not Europe or America where you do such kind of things," he said.

Homosexuality continues to be an emotive conversation in the Kenyan society with those perceived to be practicing it being targetted for reprisals, condemnation and even ostracized by their communities.
