Four of the 20 wanted criminals belonging to the Watalia gang on Thursday surrendered to the authorities in Likoni, Mombasa County.A security team chaired by Likoni DCC Eric Mulevu who received the group said those who voluntarily surrendered to police are some of the notorious gang members carrying out crimes in the county and harassing residents.The four gang members who were accompanied by their parents and village elders are linked to a series of robberies and attacks in the area.The suspects are Nuru Ali Mohammed, Gregory Otieno, James Kimani and Jackson Kitonga.Two of the suspects surrendered their weapons which they have been using to attack innocent residents before robbing them.The DCC said the suspects, who confessed to the crimes they have been committing, are being grilled further for more information.Mr Mulevu encouraged more gang members to surrender, adding that some other dangerous criminals have fled the area following an ongoing crackdown.“We are doing profiling, thereafter they will assist police in identifying other criminals.
