Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Kenyan Victor Wanyama's strike against Liverpool in an English Premier League (EPL) match in February has been voted the English Premier League Goal of the Month of February.
That makes him the first ever Kenyan to clinch the gong.
The Kenyan international came on as a late substitute replacing midfield kingpin Belgian Moussa Demele and his thunderbolt in the 80th minute in a match played on February 04, 2018 at Liverpool’s home turf of Anfield has won him the gong.
“That was one of the best goals I've ever scored. I just reacted before the Liverpool players. I thought I'd just let it go because the ball was bouncing and I didn't want to think too much. And I just let it fly,” Wanyama said after the match that ended in a 2-2 stalemate.
He won the English Premier League Goal of the Month of February, after beating Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Mario Lemina of Southampton.
“Very happy to have won the February’s@premierleague goal of the month,” Wanyama who is Harambee Stars Captain posted on facebook.
The long list for the nomination included goals from Manchester City’s Danilo, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Manchester City’s Sergio Kun Aguero.26-year-old Wanyama joined Tottenham from Southampton in 2016.
