Harambe Stars captain Victor Wanyama has shared his disappointment following Kenya's failure to qualify for the World Cup 2018 in Russia.
Kenya was eliminated early in the World Cup qualifiers by Cape Verde after losing 2-1 on aggregate back in 2015.
This has forced members of the national team to sit back and watch as Egypt, Zambia, Uganda, Cameroon and Nigeria battle it out in the final stages of the World Cup qualifiers.
Wanyama, who plays for Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premiere believes Kenya's failure to qualify is linked to lack of experience.
"It hasn't been easy. It's really painful because it's my dream to one day feature in the World Cup. We don't have a lot of professional players," Wanyama said as quoted by Nairobi news.
"Still you need to try and motivate players to come and show up on the pitch, because we have a young team. A lot of players play in the local league so they've never been tested before in big international games. It is important to motivate them to make them ready," he added.
