Kangundo East MCA Renson Nzioka has vowed to fight the alcohol menace in the ward to the end.
In an interview with hivisasa.com, he said drunkenness was still a problem in the ward.
He said alcoholism was an enemy of development since drunkards cannot work efficiently.
“This area has many young productive people hooked to drugs which has led them to be unproductive," he said.
"It requires urgent intervention to rid the county of the drug menace,” he said.
He said that his efforts will no only end in fighting the drugs but also will be geared towards rehabilitating the addicts who find it hard to leave drinking.
He added that the society needed to show love and acceptance to drug addicts in order to help addicts on the road to recovery.
The most commonly abused drugs in the county are alcohol and bhang but he said with the effoerts of the residents’ police and leaders the acts will soon be out of the area
