Witeithie Ward Residents have taken to the streets over what they termed unfair giving of bursaries by the county government officials.
This is even after they were allegedly assured of equality and fairness in the whole process.
The residents who camped outside the area MCA’s office for an hour said they had applied and only those known by the officials benefited from the funds.
“We were told to apply for bursaries and if you check on those who got them, no one is poor like we are. Their children are in private schools and that was not warranted when we were introduced to the officials,” Janet Wanjiku, a resident said.
County education CeC Esther Ndirangu said that they would form an oversight ward committee that will check on anyone applying for a bursary to ensure the funds reach the intended people.
She warned anyone bribing or taking bribes to give out the bursary form that they will be prosecuted.
MCA Peter Muiruri dismissed claims that he had given out forms to parents who do not deserve and warned his officials against doing the same.
Muiruri said the ward committee will be formed in an open baraza to involve the residents.
