A section of Elgeyo Marakwet MCAs have accused area Senator Kipchumba Murkomen of plotting their political downfall during the just concluded Jubilee Party primaries.
Led by Assembly Majority Leader and Kabiemit ward representative Wilson Boit on Wednesday, the MCAs observed that Murkomen led a smear campaign against them prior to the primaries, leading to their heavy losses.
"The MCAs who boast of a very good law, the Equitable Development Act, that gives the public an upper hand in decision making were sacrificed by one or two statements by the Senator," Boit noted.
"He (Murkomen) went round saying the resources of this county have been misused and the electorate bought the claim," he added.
Only two of the 17 MCAs won the Jubilee Party ticket.
On her part, Kapchemutwa MCA Rose Cherop challenged the ward representatives to continue discharging their duties diligently until the expiry of their term on August 8.
