Rift Valley Regional Coordinator Osman Warfa has directed county commissioners to ensure that the ongoing fight against brews and illegal drinks is done within the confines of the law.

Speaking to journalists at Naivasha Town on Wedneday, Warfa asked the commissioners to make sure that no property is destroyed apart from the illicit liquor.

The coordinator also directed the commissioners to ensure that the operations are led by police and not hired goons.

He said that acts of violence and property destruction will not be allowed or accommodated.

“County Commissioners within Rift Valley should take charge of the operations and make sure that no property is destroyed,” he said.

Warfa said that several complaints have been registered by genuine liquor sellers over damage on their property. He said that a report is being compiled on the same and that goons implicated in such destruction risk arrest and prosecution.

He also asked county commissioners and other local leaders to ensure that illicit brews are wiped out completely.

He said that the ongoing exercise has borne fruits and that it will put an end to illicit brewing.

The region coordinator also warned local leaders who have been colluding with brewers saying that they will go home. He said that any leader mentioned or found with illicit brew will be sent home immediately.
