Sports CS Hassan Wario has been urged to speed up the payments of suppliers and service providers during the IAAF World Under 18 Youth Championship that was held in the country in July.

According to the Local Organising Committee (LOC) executive officer Mwangi Muthee, the treasury had since allocated the funds budgeted for the four-day event to the ministry of sports and as such those who are owed should have been payed.

"It is my hope that the money was not diverted to other uses.It includes payments for work done on marketing billboards, accreditation, stadium lighting and a few other sevices. The LOC duly sanctioned the payments of these bills to the ministry of Sports Culture and Arts for payments", he said on Monday.

Muthee added that those still owed their pay have continuously flocked their officers demanding for explanations a situation he noted could cast the country in bad light before the IAAF committee.

" Only a few days ago,Kenya was discussed positively as a possible IAAF future partner during IAAF congress in Monaco. Therefore such negative domestic matters as nagging pending bills should not tarnish the country's image", he added.

Wario could however not be reached for comments as his calls went unanswered.
