Gusii water and sanitation company (GWASCO) is losing a lot of revenue through the illegal connections which have hindered services delivery in Kisii County.
Speaking during the stakeholders meeting, GWASCO managing director, Zachary Moguche gave a stern warning to the law offenders.
This is a warning to the culprits who have done illegal water connections. Let them know that they are risking a jail term of 2 years or a fine of ksh.2 million.” Said Moguche.
Kisii county Executive committee member of the company, Skita Ocharo, claimed that the county had to pay more than Ksh. 31m for electricity bills surpassing the allocated budget.
“That the stakeholders resorted to revise the water tariffs, which have never been revised since the inception of the company,” Ocharo said.
She assured residents that they will get a lot of water come March 2019. At Kegati plant some renovations are going which will ease water shortage in the county.
Residents have been experiencing water shortage due to poor harvesting leakages which the company is yet to address in some parts and sewer leaks to pipes leading to contamination.
