West Karateng Chief Nicholas Toro said the garbage is becoming a serious issue in the town something that has been brought about by the residents.

"Over the past few weeks, garbage has been a big issue with many complaining that we are unable to collect our garbage, that is not true because waste is being dumped everywhere," said Toro.

Speaking on Saturday Mr Toro faulted mainly business premises for the garbage menace being witnessed in the area.

"Many businesses usually dump waste just in front of their premises, how do you expect us to collect all that waste, with minimal resources," said Toro.

"Those who collect the garbage usually collected in from the designated areas, don't expect them to come at your door step," added Toro.

Toro said uncontrolled garbage waste will have a negative impact on the town considering that the April rains are around the corner.

Toro who was speaking at a funeral on Saturday said Kisumu county is experiencing difficulties in managing waste and therefore it should be the responsibility of everybody to ensure that the issue is under control.

He was speaking at the burial of Mzee Solomon Misu a village elder who died of Kidney failure.
