A warrant of arrest has ben issued against a Garissa tycoon who is alleged to have fenced off a water supply are in the town.
Issuing the directive, Northeastern regional coordinator Mohamud Saleh on Friday directed the county security committee to immediately arrest an unnamed businessman for causing inconvenience to town residents.
Addressing the press in Garissa town, Saleh ordered the security committee headed by the county commissioner James Kianda to immediately pull down the wall on the disputed site.
He further said the main water tanks were a public utility that supplies water to the entire Garissa township and that nobody should never tamper with it.
A source privy to the unfoldings disclosed to this writer that the county commissioner has already written to the Garissa Water Company, a letter that is yet to receive a reply from the board.
“It is not right for anyone to fence off water supply tanks without the county officials being aware of it,” disclosed the source.
The regional security agencies are, however, looking into the possibility that county officials might be colluding with the private developers to frustrate town residents.
