Kisumu Court issued a fresh warrant to arrest Kisumu County Assembly Service Board member, Margret Jobita who is accused alongside four other members of defrauding the assembly Sh17.4 million in three foreign trips.
Jobita, who represented the public in the Assembly board, had failed to appear before the court for the second time on Tuesday.
Deputy registrar Odawa Sewe issued the arrest warrant against Jobita for failing to appear before the court as ordered by Principal Magistrate Thomas Obutu two weeks ago.
Obutu who was hearing the matter was unavailable hence the matter was placed before Odawa.
The five members of the board- impeached Speaker Ann Adul, suspended clerk Nelco Sagwe, former Leader of Majority Samwel Ong’ow, former minority leader Eddy Anayo, and Jobita- are accused alongside Adul’s husband and two contractors Samwel Odera and Mildred Omondi. The five are jointly accused of conspiring to defraud the Assembly of Sh17.4 million in three foreign trips to Israel, Singapore and China. The seven accused are all out on a Sh2 million bond or an alternative of Sh1 million cash bail. The case will be mentioned again on June 18 this year.
