A watchman in Bungoma on Monday helped a woman deliver a baby after doctors began their nation-wide strike.
Benson Wanyonyi was guarding the gate to Bungoma County Referral Hospital when 32-year-old Isabela Marani began her labour pains and called for help.
The mother expressed gratitude after the incidence as the baby is safe.
“I am glad the guard helped me," she said.
Wanyonyi said he was at the entrance manning the entrance when the woman was brought into the hospital with no doctors around.
“I was at the main entrance when the woman was brought in on a motorcycle," said Wanyonyi.
"She then learnt that the workers were on strike and was contemplating rushing to a nearby private facility but she was overwhelmed. I ran to the outpatient department and got some gloves and assisted her," he added...
