A middle- aged- man who worked as a night guard at Muchanganyiko business centre in a Nakuru town residential area along Nakuru-Nyahururu Highway has gone undercover after he allegedly tried to rape a widow.
According to the area Assistant Chief Wesley Karani, the suspected rapist identified as Samual Hinga was spotted early Thursday boarding a Public Service Vehicle en route to Nyahururu after word went around that he broke into the widow’s home compound at night and attempted to rape her.
According to Asst. Chief Karani, the watchman who is known for his love for illicit alcoholic drinks and smoking of bhang strayed into the old woman’s home after reportedly consuming the drugs at around 12 midnight.
“He knocked on the granny’s door and requested for a glass of water after identifying himself. The old woman opened the door and offered him water since she knows him, but he turned against her and started touching her indecently. He only moved out after the woman started to raise an alarm,’’ said Karani.
The Asst. Chief told this writer in an interview that the security guard pleaded with the granny not to raise an alarm and went out of her compound.
However the granny had reported the matter to several of her family members in the morning whom started mobilising other residents to fish out the night guard for discipline.
“He is lucky he sensed danger and vanished. Otherwise we could have been talking about a different story now following how these irate group reacted,’’ said Karani.
