The prosecution desk told the court under the precision of Senior Resident Magistrate that the accused, Lawrence Ngaira, 50, who worked at Jupiter Academy in Gilgil was arrested by police officers from Gilgil Police Station on December 7 after he was found in possession of fifty textbooks that had been reported missing from the schools store.

The court heard that the accused, while on duty on the night of December 4, broke into the school store and stole the books, which he stocked in his house at Kilima estate in Gilgil town.

The prosecution added that the accused was summoned by the school’s chief security officer over the burglary incident, and recorded a statement at the Gilgil police station.

The court heard that following further investigations, the accused was found in possession of the books, which he had stuffed under a bed and ceiling of his rental house.

He was detained after failing to raise a bond of Sh150,000.
