A security guard was on Tuesday night killed, after armed robbers invaded a business centre in Moronyo village in Bahati Sub County.
Nakuru police boss Benard Kioko told reporters in his office on Wednesday morning during a brief that the ten-man gang of armed robbers was fleeing after staging a series of robberies in the area, before they shot Shadrack Asega dead after he tried to escape.
The police boss divulged that the crooks, who were riding in a Nissan van had earlier staged a daring robbery at the rural home of the former Subukia Member of Parliament Koigi Wa Wamwere and in several shops and butcheries at the business centre.
“The security guard was hiding at a trench near his place of work but the gangsters noticed him and shot at him at close range before escaping. It seems they were wary of their identities and that of the vehicle being noticed by the security guard,” said Kioko.
He said the criminals escaped with property worth thousands of shillings, while they robbed the former Member of Parliament of Sh100,000 in cash, after jumping over the perimeter wall installed with electric wires and Close Circuit Television gadgets.
He said police had arrested two suspects in connection with the violent robbery, and were helping police with investigations.
