Lack of enough water at two treatment plants in Isiolo town has led to an acute shortage and increased rationing of the commodity.

Isiolo water and sewerage company acting managing director Abdullahi Sora said water resource management authority which is supposed to regulate water has failed to control usage by farmers upstream hence affecting residents of Isiolo town.

"Water usage in the region is not controlled properly. This has led to water shortage thus rationing of water had to be done to serve locals better with the available water", said Sora.

He urged residents to use water responsibly to avoid wastage.

"Water taps should remain closed when not in use to avoid water wastage", he said.
