Patients seeking medical care at Nyamira County hospital have protested lack of water at the facility.
The patients now claim that they are at risk of contradicting diseases because there is no water at the hospital's toilets for use.
"I was admitted to the facility on Tuesday after I was diagnosed with malaria. I am in fear that I may contradict other diseases such as cholera because patients suffering from the various diseases are sharing the same toilets without water to flush the human wastes,” said Job Okindo on Saturday.
A nurse at the facility who declined to be named said that the county should be blamed for the water crisis at the hospital because Kenya power bills haven’t been paid until today.
“We should not be blamed for lack of water at the facility. The county has failed to pay electricity bills which made Kenya Power disconnect electricity which helps in pumping water to the facility’s water taps,” said the nurse.
The nurse urged patients to utilize rainwater as the issue is being sorted by the relevant authorities.
