Several water projects in Lare Ward, Njoro sub-county are to be rehabilitated to solve the perennial water problems faced by the residents. The County Executive Committee members (CECs) for Water Engineer Festus Kipkoech and Agriculture and Livestock Dr. Immaculate Njuthe held consultative meetings in the area yesterday, Wednesday, and also visited some of the projects to be rehabilitated. Gichobo community water project will be taken over by Nakuru Rural Water Services Company. The project's infrastructure will be improved with an elevated water tank being installed to make it possible to distribute water to many residents. CEC Festus Kipkoech says Lare residents have in the past been the worst hit by water shortage problems but this would soon become a thing of the past. "As the county government, we shall increase the capacity, improve infrastructure and rehabilitate a number of water projects in this Ward and in other areas. Lare Ward has for long been hit by water shortages for a long time and Governor Lee's administration is determined to put this to end once and for all," said the water CEC. The rehabilitation of the storage tank at Pwani Water project and piping to increase distribution will also be undertaken as will the rehabilitation of Bagaria borehole. The borehole will also be put under the management of Naruwasco. Other water projects in Lare that will be rehabilitated include; Nguriga borehole community project at Naismith which will have the faulty pump replaced. The Lare dam will be fenced off to facilitate piping and help many farmers access the water for irrigation purposes. Kilo water project also in Lare Ward will get an elevated tank and piping. "These projects will not only improve the lives of the residents, but will improve agricultural activities in the Ward which will help raise the standards of living for residents," said Njuthe.
