Dondori MCA Steve Kihara has assured residents in the area that the government would solve the perennial water problems in the area.
Speaking at Kiamaina Primary school, Kihara cited that the commissioning of several water collecting projects In Bahati area will ensure that there will not be any water shortage in the area.
He stated that the shortage will no longer be used as a campaign tool for politicians since it will be a thing of the past.
“Water shortage will no longer be a campaign issue come 2017. How can Bahati, a very wet and rich agricultural area have a water problem as serious as that of the semi-arid Turkana,”wondered Mr Kihara.
According to Kihara, the most affected by the water shortage were women and children who often had to travel long distances in search of water.
“We want to ensure that the residents can also harvest rain water properly considering that this is an area that receives adequate rain. We are also looking into prospects of ensuring that the residents have piped water and enough water for irrigation,” he added.
Kihara urged women and youth groups to utilize the Uwezo Funds given by government.
“This is the only way one can be able to establish the dreams that they have been longing for,” he added.
