Residents of Ofafa and Pilot estates in Hospital Ward, Thika West Sub-county have decried water shortage in the past one week.
Speaking on Wednesday, the residents said that they have now resorted to buying water from water vendors and water kiosks.
They say the price of a 20-litre water jerrican is going for Sh10 which is way too high for them.
"We do not know what is happening but we are hoping that the problem shall be fixed soon. Bought water is never enough," said Charity Njeri, a resident.
Another resident Grace Mwikali said that they were fearing contracting water-borne diseases noting that sometimes the water from the vendors is not usually clean.
However, the area water field officer James Mwaura from Thika Water and Sewerage Company (Thiwasco) has promised that the problem will be fixed soon saying it was just brought to their attention.
"There is an ongoing road construction in the area along where our water pipes pass and maybe a puncture could have caused enough water not reaching the area," said Mwaura.
