West Uyoma Ward residents in Rarieda Sub County and its environs are now facing acute water shortage under unclear grounds.
The residents say they have been without clean water for the last two months after West Uyoma Water Supply abruptly stopped supplying them with clean water without informing them.
They lamented that the pathetic situation has forced them residents to fetch unsafe water from the ponds and beaches of Lake Victoria.
Addressing Journalists at Manyuanda market centre, the locals led by Julius Obog expressed their fear that they are at risk of contracting diarrhoeal diseases like cholera, typhoid, bilharzia and dysentery if they continue using untreated water.
They regretted that their several attempts to get answers why they cannot get clean water from the Management Board led by the chairman Obuya Omil have borne no fruit.
When contacted, the board chair Obuya Omil declined to comment on the matter.
