David Oduor, a Nakuru-based investment consultant said that unless the two problems are addressed, Nakuru will remain where it is because no investor will want to invest where water is scarce.

Speaking Tuesday afternoon during a private- public partnership investment forum at a Nakuru hotel, Oduor said that the county government must put a lot of focus on sorting out the issue of water shortage and housing crisis if it wants to attract investors into the county.

“Many investors would want to come and put their money in Nakuru due to the availability of a lot of natural resources and its central location, but when they hear of the water problem and the housing shortage, they shy away and the government must be quick in addressing the two issues if indeed it wants to pull investors into the county,” said Oduor.

Oduor advised the county government to partner with the private sector in dealing with the two issues by providing them with incentives, which will seduce them to invest in water supply as well as the housing sector.

“In the modern world, you cannot be able to seduce a woman without offering her goodies and the county government must adopt that strategy and dish out goodies to investors in the private sector so that they can help in dealing with the water and housing crisis in Nakuru,” he said.

The forum was organized by the Nakuru business community with the aim of offering their views on how best the county government can handle the water problem issue in the county.
