According to Principal Secretary Fred Sigor, two water treatment plants are under construction in the county, which he said, will address water shortage.

"With the support of the World Bank and Kenya government we are constructing Kapsoya and Naiberi water treatment plants at a cost of Sh625 million," he said.

Speaking after inspecting the two projects on Monday, Sigor said once the projects are complete, they will produce an additional 9,000 cubic meters of water per day.

"Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (ELDOWAS) produces 3,600 cubic meters per day amid demand of 5,600 per day," he added.

He also added that the construction of Kipkaren dam water supply plant will soon commence.

"The project will cost Sh1.3 billion, everything is in order for its commencement. In two years time every part of the country will have clean water," he added.

Sigor said the government, through the Ministry of Water, has set aside Sh40 billion for water projects that are on going across the 47 counties.
