Residents in Kisii County county are experiencing water shortage as vendors take advantage of the situation to sell water expensively to them.

According to vendors interviewed by Hivisasa,  their business was booming as the demand for water had gone up.

The said that they were selling a 20 litre Jerry can of water at Sh 40.

Joshua Omburo a water vendor says in a good day he can manage to make a profit of about Sh 4000.

"This business of selling waterwater is very profitable becauee hotels and households have been hit by water shortage," said Omburo

Another vendor, Patrick Nyanumba said he is currently overwhelmed by the high demand for water from the locals.

"This problem is far from over because it's now two years and little has been done to address the water shortage. In return we are making good money," said Mr Nyanumba.
