Wavinya Ndeti has joined the list of politicians to file a petition as she plans to challenge the re-election of Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.
“There were no elections conducted in Machakos county. What happened was a personal and county affair. You cannot go into an electionwith your workers being the one who is running the same,” she said.
On Tuesday, the Wiper candidate submitted 10,000 pages worth of documents and was joined by her running mate Peter Mathuki and her lawyers.
"As you can see the case is very voluminous and so we are going to have a total of ten senior lawyers who include Otiende Omollo, James Orengo, T.J. Kajwang, James Gichanga among other," said Daniel Maanzo, one of Wavinya's lawyers as quoted by The Star.
Maanzo added that they intend to seek nullification of Governor Alfred Mutua’s re-election on the basis of what they believe were several electoral malpractices.
“We do not want to go into the merits of the case at the moment because that is for the Court to here but the bottom line is that the integrity of the whole process was questionable,” the lawyer said.
