Former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti has criticized Governor Alfred Mutua's roofing project meant to eliminate grass thatched houses in Machakos County launched by the latter on Wednesday.
On her twitter accounts, Ndeti accused the governor of misplaced priorities in terms of implementing projects that can have more impact on the residents.
She accused Mutua of swindling public funds hence called on Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) to swiftly move with speed and investigate the county's projects and public funds expenditure.
Ndeti said Mutua was unable to empower youths and women to be able to sustain themselves.
"Branding iron sheets using public funds, placing them on worn out rafts and distributing them to poverty-stricken Kenyans is disrespect to humanity. Simply means that he's unable to empower youths and women to be able to sustain themselves. He's actually acting as the Lord of Poverty," reads Ndeti's tweet.
She said the sustainable development would only involve improving productivity in Agriculture and all-inclusive consultative development ideology.
Several Kenyans have taken to online criticizing Mutua's latest ' publicity stunt.'
They accuse him of prejudicing owners of the grass thatched houses.
Mutua, however, maintains that the project will improve the locals' living standards across the county.
