Former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti has slammed Machakos senator Boniface Kabaka for failing in his oversight role.
Commenting after Machakos was rated by a research institution among counties with the worst performing governors on Monday, Ndeti said Kabaka has not been performing his constitutional duties as a senator since he was elected on August 8, 2017.
"Machakos was the best performing county in the last term meaning that the current senator is failing on his duties," Ndeti said.
Ndeti accused the senator of dining with Governor Alfred Mutua instead of keeping him on "toes" leading to the executive's laxity in service delivery hence the county's deterioration in terms of development.
Her sentiments come barely a day after the county was rated number 37, while Makueni and Kitui counties are on the lead with the best performing governors.
Ndeti posted on her official Facebook page that Machakos County has been duped for too long through cosmetic projects meant for the cameras and documentaries rather than helping the people.
She said Mutua feels so big and has started crisscrossing the country in what he has openly referred to as launching his presidential bid four years to the 2022 general elections.
"What a shame, the main purpose of devolution was not to gain power but to bring services closer to the people," Ndeti said.
During governor Mutua's oathing ceremony, senator Kabaka had declared to work together with him for best interest of electorates unlike his predecessor Johnstone Muthama.
