Former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti has won Wiper ticket to contest for the Machakos governorship in the forthcoming general polls.
Wavinya Ndeti, also former Chama Chama Cha Uzalendo leader, garnered 299,312 votes against Bernard Kiala’s 4,663, reports KTN.
The aspirant is set to lock horns with Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua whom Wiper accused of attempting to interfere with its nominations a few weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Wiper had denied favoring Wavinya Ndeti during nominations.
“Any perception being created that the party was interested in giving Ms Ndeti a direct nomination will be dealt with today precisely,” said Mr Omar. The Mombasa senator also said that both the candidates are expected to take part in the exercise.
He added: “It was resolved that the primaries be held today (Sunday). We do realise that two candidates are participating that is Wavinya Ndeti and Bernard Kiala.”
The aspirant has affirmed that she will give Mutua a run for his money when that time comes. She has also pledged to transform lives of the residents if she ascends to power when that time comes.
