This is after former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti put Governor Alfred Mutua on the spot and some county officials, accusing them of hatching a plot planning to burn down government buildings before the next general election.
Ndeti, a close ally to Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, has written a letter to Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet, notifying him about the alleged plan.
The governor and Ndeti have not been in good terms since she launched her bid. The two leaders have been trading barbs over different issues. This time round, Wavinya Ndeti has decided to take the rivalry to the next level by alleging that there's a plan to burn down offices belonging to the county government. Wavinya Ndeti claims that Mutua and some officials wanted to raze down the property in order to destroy financial and other records. She also revealed that the governor has already sensed defeat ahead of the polls.
“This, coupled with the public mood for change in Machakos right now, has led to panic and desperation by some county officials and the incumbent Governor Alfred Mutua. Information was passed to me yesterday that there is a plot to burn down sections of the county government head quarters between July 5 and 8, so as to destroy financial and procurement records as part of a wider scheme to cover up the said economic crimes,” read part of the letter.
