Mutua has declared his interest for the seat in the forthcoming 2022 general elections, upon the completion of his second and last term as a county chief.

Speaking on Radio Citizen on Thursday, Ndeti who unsuccessfully battled Mutua in the August 8, 2017 polls for the Machakos top post wished him all the best with the ambition.

Wavinya who, however, termed Mutua as a failure noted that it is time he tried his luck elsewhere, after recording a terrible performance while at the helm of the county.

"I wish him well and all the best in his presidential bid. This is, however, not because he is good for the post but because he no longer has any business in Machakos after his dismal performance in his first term," Ndeti said.

Addressing the press in Nairobi after the Court of Appeal nullified his re-election last Friday, Mutua maintained that he remains fully in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, terming the nullification as a 'simple hurdle'.

The annulment followed Ndeti's petition against his reelection in a race where the former Kathiani came second on a Wiper party ticket.
