Ndeti said through leadership, women will be able to empower themselves and compete fairly with their male counterparts.

Speaking on KTN on Thursday evening when she was hosted by Comedian Dr Ofweneke on Tonight Live Show,   the former MP who unsuccessfully contested for the Machakos Gubernatorial election in last year's polls noted that many women shy away from active politics .

She said the constitution has empowered women and that they should seize the opportunity to demand for inclusion.

"My message to women as we celebrate the International Women's day is for them to remain steadfast and take active role in matters of leadership and politics," Ndeti said.

Ndeti urged women to unite and work together in promoting their interests and welfare.

She said women are oftenly used to fight themselves thereby denying them opportunities that they deserve.

The former lawmaker asked the national and county governments to create more opportunities for women and other marginalized groups in their governments.

She asked the National  Assembly, the Senate and the County Assemblies to formulate laws that will protect women interests.

Ndeti noted that cases of women abuse are rampant in the country.

The former legislator urged the government to increase funding to women kitties in order to economically, socially and politically empower them.

The International Women's Day is celebrated worldwide on March 8 every year with key focus on recognizing women and their contribution to the society.
