Machakos Wiper Democratic Movement - Kenya (WDM-K) gubernatorial candidate Wavinya Ndeti has accused her opponent, governor Dr Alfred Mutua, of pocketing pocketing public funds.
She has invited investigators to conduct investigations. Below is her open letter to the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, dated June 29, 2017.
"In the course of my interaction with Wananchi yesterday, someone made an effort to reach me and shared very crucial information that i would like to bring to your attention, the security agencies and general public.
It is common knowledge now that out of various reports from the Office of the Auditor General and active investigations by EACC, as well as ongoing court cases on economic crimes; there has been wanton looting of public resources in Machakos County Government. This coupled with the public mood for change in Machakos county right now has led to panic and desperation by some county officials and the governor himself Dr. Alfred Mutua.Information was passed to me yesterday that between 5th and 8th of July 2017 ,there is plot to burn down sections of the county Government headquarters so as to destroy financial and procurement records as part of the wider scheme to cover up the said economic crimes.I therefore bring this to your attention and into the public domain as a patriotic citizen and a child of this County.I request the other relevant arms of Government to move in swiftly and secure all movable and immovable assets that might be illegally disposed off or looted during this transition period.I urge all Machakos residents to be vigilant as we await the advent of a new administration that will act in the best interest of our great County.Hon.Wavinya Ndeti,Gubernatorial Candidate,Machakos County.29th June 2017
